A textile collector, curator and archivist, Blodwen brings us modern Welsh tradition. A collective committed to the preservation and revival of traditional skills with artefacts of leading-edge design and style, this is a company that Caro immediately wanted to work with. Crafted by masters of industry, the objects offered are of quality and timeless form.
As well as the promotion of artisans, Blodwen bids a sense of community, developing collaborations and celebrating a back-to-basics, back-to-nature logic. Always mindful of their carbon footprint, they shun industrial farming, sea dredging, fast foods and mass production.
Inspired by traditional patterns dating from the 1700’s, the Blodwen Heritage Collection blankets are woven at a 180 year old mill in the Teifi Valley on original 1930’s Dobcross looms. These throws are beautifully created and an item to be cherished for life.
Another Caro favourite is the ‘Gwalia' Enamelware Collection, influenced by life beside the sea in West Wales. A prosperous, ship-building port during the 18th and 19th centuries, Cardigan Bay utilised the famously durable and functional enamelware that was traditional of it’s day. Blodwen’s interpretation of this ware features the iconic ‘Caernarfon’ Welsh motif.
